Frequently Asked Questions
Effective Date: June 1, 2025
Welcome to the Loser Story FAQ section. Here you'll find answers to common questions about using the app, posting stories, account management, privacy, and more.
Why does Loser Story exist?
Because losing hurts — and healing in silence hurts more.
Loser Story exists to break that silence.
It’s not just a place to post your pain.
It’s a space to process it, understand it, and see that you’re not alone.
Here, people share stories of loss — but also what came after: the reflection, the rebuilding, the moments where failure taught them something real.
You’ll find not just heartbreak, but humanity.
You’ll learn that others have faced the same darkness — and found light.
That loss isn’t weakness.
That it’s not the end.
It’s the beginning of something stronger.
Loser Story exists to remind you:
You’re not alone.
You’re not done.
And your story matters — especially the messy parts.
Is my identity always hidden?
By default, your stories are anonymous. But if you want to own your story and show your name, you totally can — it’s your call.
Are stories reviewed before going public?
Yes. Every story goes through a quick moderation check to make sure it's respectful, relevant, and fits the selected category and keyword. If needed, you might be asked to update it before it’s published.
What kind of stories can I post?
Post stories about real losses, failures, or tough lessons — the kind that shaped you. No hate, no abuse, no trolling. Just real, raw, relatable.
Can I connect with other users?
You can view someone’s profile and get inspired by their stories — but there’s no follow button or DMs. It’s about shared experiences, not popularity contests
Is there any reward or points system?
Nope. No likes, badges, or leaderboards. This space is about expression, not competition.
Can I edit or delete my story after posting?
Absolutely. You’re in control of your story. You can edit or delete it anytime from your profile — unless it already has a comment or reaction. In that case, you can still delete it, but editing won’t be allowed.
How do I create a story?
Just tap the “Create Story” button on the bottom nav. Choose your category, sub category, add a keyword, write your story, and hit post. You can stay anonymous or attach your name — totally up to you.
Can I include images or videos in my story?
Yes we allow maximum one image per story.
What’s the difference between category and keyword?
The category is the general topic your story fits into (like School, Career, Breakup). The keyword highlights the main theme (like Rejection, Failure, Regret). Both help others find and relate to your story.
What happens after I post a story?
Every story goes through a short moderation check. If it follows the vibe and fits the category/keyword, meets the rules and standard, it’ll go live. If not, we’ll ask you to tweak it before approval.
How do I know if my story got approved?
You’ll get a notification once your story is live — or if changes are needed. You can also check the status from your profile.
Can I see all the stories I’ve written?
Yes! Just go to your profile or to the bottom nav:My Stories, and you’ll find all your posted stories, along with any drafts or stories pending moderation.
Why can’t I follow or message other users?
Loser Story isn’t about building clout. It’s about reading, writing, and healing through shared stories. You can view profiles for inspiration, but there's no follow or DM feature.
Is there a trending section?
Yes! Tap “Trending” in the bottom navigation to explore the stories people are vibing with most — ranked by reads, reactions, and how recent they are. You can filter trends by day, week, month, or year, and even view top users and stories separately.
How do reactions and comments work?
Readers can freely react to stories using expressive options like Hopeful, Resilient, Empowering, and more — there’s no limit on how many stories you can react to. For comments, each user can post up to 3 comments per story — even if they delete a comment, it still counts toward the limit. Comments come in two types: custom comments (up to 60 characters) and preselected system-generated comments.
Is my data and identity safe?
Yes. We never show your identity unless you choose to reveal it. Your data stays secure, and we don’t sell or share your information with third parties
Who sees my story after I post it?
Once your story passes moderation, it becomes public and visible in the app. Until then, it’s only visible to you from your My Stories - bottom nav.
How long does moderation take?
Most stories are reviewed within a few hours. During busy times, it might take up to 24 hours. You’ll get a notification once your story is approved or needs revision.
Why was my story sent back for changes?
Stories are returned if they contain harmful, off-topic, or abusive content — or if they don’t align with the selected category or keyword. We’ll always tell you why and let you edit and resubmit.
Are there any official story rules or guidelines?
We keep it simple: share real losses, keep it honest, and be respectful. No hate, abuse, trolling, or off-topic rants. Your story should fit the vibe of your chosen category and keyword.
Can I report a story or comment or a user?
Yes. If something feels off, abusive, or inappropriate, tap the report icon. Our moderation team will review and take action if needed.
What happens if someone misuses the platform?
If a user repeatedly posts abusive content or breaks the vibe, they may be warned, suspended, or banned. We’re here to protect the space, not police creativity.
I didn’t get my verification code. What should I do?
First, double-check your number or email. If it’s correct, wait a minute or two — sometimes it takes a bit. Still nothing? Tap Resend Code or try switching to email or phone if one isn’t working.
My code says “invalid” — what now?
Make sure you typed it exactly right and that it hasn’t expired. If it still fails, hit Resend Code to get a fresh one.
The app says I already signed up, but I didn’t finish.
That means you started registration but didn’t complete all the steps. Just log in with your username/email and continue where you left off.
I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
Go to the login screen, tap Forgot Password, and follow the steps. You’ll get a code to reset it securely.
I uploaded my story, but it’s not showing up.
Your story might still be under moderation. Visit the “My Stories” page and refresh it if needed to see the latest status. You’ll find each story labeled as Pending, Approved, or Needs Update. If it says Needs Update, just tap to edit your story and resubmit it for review.
Why can’t I comment anymore on a story?
Each user can comment up to 3 times per story — even deleted comments count toward that limit. Once you hit the max, commenting is disabled for that story.
The app crashed or froze. What should I do?
Try closing and reopening the app. If that doesn’t work, clear cache or update to the latest version. Still stuck? Reach out via Contact Support in the app.
I accidentally deleted my story. Can I get it back?
Unfortunately, no — once deleted, stories are permanently removed from the system. Double-check before confirming deletion.
How does the feed work?
You can personalize your feed by choosing up to 3 categories and 2 sentiments that match your vibe. Your home feed will then show stories based on those preferences — real, relevant, and resonant to you.
What’s the Jewel icon all about?
The Jewel icon highlights our most motivating and standout stories. Think of it as a crown jewel — rare stories that shine with inspiration and strength.
Why does the Jewel section sometimes show quotes instead of stories?
When there aren’t enough fresh standout stories, we keep the fire alive with motivational quotes. It’s our way of still giving you a lift when the story queue’s quiet.
What is “The Pulse”?
Pulse lets you react with emotion + intensity. For each story, you can choose one reaction (like Hopeful) and set how strongly you feel it — from 1 to 5. It’s vibes, but with volume.
Can I filter stories by mood or date?
Yes! On the home page, you can filter stories by emotions (like Heartfelt or Empowering) and by date range to see what’s trending now or what hit hardest last month.
What do these emojis and emotions mean?
Every story can be reacted to with a vibe emoji — each tied to a core emotion in the Loser Story universe:
🌟 Hopeful – When it gives you faith again
🔋 Revitalizing – Feels like a recharge
⚡ Empowering – Makes you feel stronger
💪 Resilient – When someone really bounced back
🔥 Encouraging – Fires you up to keep going
🏅 Illustrious – A win that deserves applause
❤️ Heartfelt – Deeply emotional or touching
🌀 Pensive – Makes you stop and think
🤯 Unbelievable – Totally unexpected or wild
Do I need to upload my ID or photo?
Nope, it’s optional. Some users upload ID for trust or verification, but it’s never required. And if you do upload, the image is immediately deleted after verification is done.
Can I hide my profile info?
Yes! By default, your profile details are hidden. From your profile settings, you can choose to hide or show your name, age, gender, birthdate, and even your full profile to others.
What does “Allow profile view requests” mean?
Even if your profile is hidden, you can choose whether others can ask to view it. If this is off, you’ll stay completely invisible. If it’s on, you can still accept or reject each request.
Can I reject profile view requests?
Absolutely. If someone sends a request to view your profile, you can choose to decline it — no questions asked.
What happens if I reject someone’s request?
If you reject someone’s profile view request, they won’t be able to send another one right away. This helps prevent spam and keeps things respectful.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can delete your account from the profile settings. Once requested, your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after 14 days. During that time, you can log in to cancel the deletion.
Can I view my activity or history?
Yes. Just head to your profile, and you’ll see your posted stories, reactions, comments, and any pending or moderated content — all in one place.
Does the app work offline?
Some parts of the app may work with cached content, but posting, reacting, or updating your profile needs an internet connection.
How do I update the app?
We’ll notify you when a new version is out. You can also manually check on the App Store or Play Store for updates.
Can I use the app on more than one device?
Yes, just log in using the same username or email on any device. Your stories and settings sync across devices.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. All sensitive data is encrypted during transmission and protected by industry-standard security practices.
What should I do if I find a bug or issue?
Tap on Contact Support in your profile or FAQ screen. You can report technical issues directly to our team.
How often is the app updated?
We regularly release updates to improve features, fix bugs, and add more cool stuff — based on your feedback.
What is a Whisper?
A Whisper is a private message sent by a reader to the story creator after reading a story. It is not visible to the public, and only the recipient can choose to reply or ignore it.
Do I get notified when someone replies?
Yes, you will receive both in-app and email notifications when a Whisper is replied to. Make sure your notification settings are enabled.
Can I delete a Whisper?
No, Whispers can’t be manually deleted. If ignored, they are automatically removed after 14 days. Completed conversations are wiped after 365 days.
Why can’t I Whisper to some stories?
Whispers are only allowed if your account is at least 24 hours old and you have posted at least one comment on that story. Some stories may also have Whispers disabled.
Can the story creator Whisper back?
Yes, the creator can respond with a reply (also 300 characters). After that, each side can send one more message (150 characters each) — and then the conversation ends.
Are Whispers anonymous or private?
Whispers are private but not anonymous. Your username and profile picture (if enabled) will be visible to the recipient. However, the conversation stays strictly between you and the story creator — it’s never public.
Why does Loser Story have Whispers?
Some moments hit deeper than a public comment can express. Whispers let you privately connect with the story creator when something resonates — it’s for when “Ditto” doesn’t feel like enough.
How is a Whisper different from a comment?
Comments are public and visible to all readers — great for support, solidarity, or reactions. Whispers are private messages that go straight to the story creator. Use a Whisper when you want to share something personal, ask a sensitive question, or offer support directly.
When should I send a Whisper?
Send a Whisper when a story hits you in a personal way and you want to connect directly — whether to say “me too,” ask something private, or just let the creator know they’re seen. Use it with care, not casually.
Why can’t I send more than two messages?
Whispers are meant to be meaningful, not ongoing chats. Each reader can send one message and, if the creator replies, one more. That’s it. This keeps Whispers safe, respectful, and emotionally lightweight for both sides.
Why didn’t my Whisper get a reply?
Not all Whispers receive replies. The story creator may not feel ready to respond, or they may have reached their reply limit. Every Whisper is seen, even if it’s not answered. It still matters.
Why are there different Sentiments for different types of stories?
Not every story feels the same — and neither should the way we react.\nLoser Story separates stories into three types: Loss-Only, Mixed, and Resolved.\nEach story type unlocks a specific set of emoji reactions that match its emotional tone.\nThis helps keep feedback authentic and relevant — because “🔥 Encouraging” doesn’t belong on a story about grief, and “🥶 Numb” might not feel right on a comeback.
What do the icons and colors mean?
Each sentiment emoji is carefully matched with:\n- A core feeling (like “Raw” or “Hopeful”)\n- A color that visually represents the vibe\n- A description to help you choose what resonates\n\nFor example:\n- 🩸 Raw — Deep, painful, unfiltered\n- ❤️ Heartfelt — Emotional and genuine\n- 🌟 Hopeful — A spark of light in dark times\n\nThe colors aren’t just pretty — they reflect emotional depth and help paint a picture of how people felt when reading.
Can I change my Sentiment later?
Yes — and you can do more than just change it.\nYou can tap on as many sentiments as you feel.\nFelt “Numb” and “Heartfelt”? Click both.\nTap again to remove one if it no longer fits.\nYou’re in control — no judgment, no lock-ins.\nReactions reflect emotions, and emotions shift.
How does Loser Story help me?
Loser Story helps you see that you’re not the only one who’s lost — and not the only one trying to rise again.
You’ll read real stories of people who faced heartbreak, failure, rejection, or regret… and still chose to keep going.
You’ll see the moments they broke, but also the moments they rebuilt.
You’ll recognize pieces of your own story — and start to make sense of it.
Sharing your own experience can feel like exhaling after holding your breath for too long.
It’s not about having the perfect comeback — it’s about owning the truth of your journey from loss to strength.
Sometimes, that’s where healing begins:
Not when you’ve “won,”
but when you realize you’re still in the fight — and no longer fighting alone.
How does Loser Story help me?
Because no matter where you are — lost, fighting, or finally healing — your story matters.
Maybe you’re still in it, trying to figure things out.
Maybe you’ve hit rock bottom.
Maybe you’ve already come out the other side.
Wherever you are, your experience can be a lifeline to someone else.
Posting isn’t about having a happy ending.
It’s about being real — with yourself and with others.
It’s about saying, “This is what happened. This is where I’m at. This is what I’ve learned — or am still learning.”
Every story shared chips away at someone’s loneliness.
Every post reminds someone: they’re not broken, they’re just human.
And sometimes, writing your story is how you realize how far you’ve already come.
How does my story help others?
Your story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear right now.
Not because it’s perfect.
Not because you’ve figured it all out.
But because it’s real.
Someone out there is feeling the same heartbreak, the same failure, the same stuckness — but they think they’re the only one.
When they read your story, they see themselves… and they feel less alone.
Your honesty gives others permission to feel, reflect, and breathe.
Even if you’re still in the middle of the mess — just sharing that can be powerful.
And if you’ve made it through? Your story becomes a roadmap for someone who’s still in the dark.
This is how we help each other.
Not by having the answers — but by showing up with the truth.
Do the stories have to be real?
Yes. Always.
Loser Story is not fiction, fantasy, or fanfic.
It’s built on real people, real struggles, real emotions.
Every story here should come from your own experience — not something made up, exaggerated, or copied.
Why?
Because the power of Loser Story comes from honesty.
The kind that says, “This happened to me. And I’m sharing it as it was.”
We’re not here to impress. We’re here to connect.
And connection only happens when the story is true.
What kind of stories can I share, and when?
You can share any story where loss shaped you.
It might be about a breakup, a breakdown, a betrayal…
Losing a job, a dream, a person, or even yourself.
If it hurt — and changed you — it belongs here.
You don’t have to wait until you’ve “healed.”
You can share while you're still figuring it out.
You can post from the middle, the aftermath, or the comeback.
But only when you’re ready.
Loser Story isn’t about forcing vulnerability — it’s about giving it a home when the time feels right.
If you're still carrying the weight, sharing it here might help you breathe again.
Do I need to share a story to use Loser Story?
No — you don’t have to share a story to be here.
You can read, react, and support others without ever posting.
Sometimes just seeing what others have been through is enough to shift your perspective — or soothe something you didn’t know needed soothing.
But if the day comes when you’re ready to put your own story into words…
This space will still be here.
No pressure. No judgment. Just open arms.
How do other people’s stories help me?
They remind you that you're not the only one who's been there.
Reading other people’s stories can feel like looking in a mirror you didn’t know you needed.
You see your pain, your confusion, your regrets — reflected back without shame.
But more than that, you see what’s possible.
You see that other people have lost, too — and still found a way forward.
You learn from their choices, their stumbles, their strength.
And sometimes, just knowing that someone else made it through is enough to believe you can too.
In a world that often hides pain, Loser Story puts it in the open — so we can all breathe a little easier, together.
